SCOMBER SCOMBRUS
Mackerel Fishing starts in July in the international waters off the Faroe Islands. and finishes in April of the coast of Ireland. There is also another fishery in the English Channel which starts in October and finishes April . Please see the catching area/season link for more information.

The mackerel is normally caught by trawler but there is still some purse sein fish being landed. All of the vessels have good RSW tanks to ensure the fish reaches the factories in the best possible condition. Once the vessel arrives at the factory pier the fish is pumped directly from the boats to holding tanks in the factories where we start the production process. As the fish comes into the factories it is graded and then either whole frozen, or further processed by hand or machiene

We can offer the following sizes in either hroizontal plate or 20 kg blast frozen. All the goods can either be with or without carton to meet the customer needs.

Headed and Gutted
This process is done by machiene and is either sold fresh or frozen.. We can offer H&G cut from all of the whole fish sizes. The finsihed product can either be tail on or off and we also have the capability to cut the (smaller sizes) finished product to lenght to fit customers requirments.

 

Hand Cut Fillets
Cut by hand mainly by women to a high sepcification these fillets are hand laid into a 10 kg catons and blast frozen. We produce the following sizes

180g+

100-150g
70-120g
